In today’s episode, Rusty Shelton talks with serial entrepreneur and Founder of Empowered Leadership Doug Meyer-Cuno about how he transitioned from a micromanager to a true leader. Doug gives listeners tips about how to become a servant leader with defined KPIs, aligned goals, and clear expectations with buy-in and accountability from the team. About Doug Meyer-Cuno: Doug Meyer-Cuno founded Carolina Ingredients in 1990, where he served as CEO for the next 28 years and led the company from a single staff member to a nationally recognized and award-winning industrial seasoning manufacturer. He would go on to sell the company to Mitsubishi Group in 2019, becoming the first privately owned company to be purchased by the conglomerate. Doug has also founded Compaction International, DMC Enterprises LLC, and Merisal LLC. Recently, he created Empowered Leadership, a consultancy that helps entrepreneurs, business owners, and CEOs scale their companies. He recently released the book Empowered Leadership as well. Doug graduated from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, and the Harvard Business School Owner/President Management Program in 2004. Doug is married to Dr. Margaret Edwards Meyer-Cuno. Together they have four wonderful adult children. Doug and Margaret are active in their church and community. They reside in South Carolina, with their dogs and enjoy boating, good food, and watching sunsets with a glass of wine.
