Upside: Dr. Joseph Galati

Dr. Joseph S. Galati, a native of Long Island, New York, was raised in a family where good nutrition and family were ways of life. Today, his practice, Liver Specialists of Texas and the Metabolic and Fatty Liver Center, is devoted to the care of patients with all facets of liver diseases, obesity, fatty liver, and nutrition-related disorders.

Dr. Galati has been involved in clinical research in liver disease for the past thirty years, conducting studies in viral hepatitis and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. A Fellow in the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and American College of Gastroenterology, Dr. Galati has been an invited speaker both nationally and internationally, having lectured in Latin America, Europe, and Asia. He is a Diplomat in the American Board of Internal Medicine-Gastroenterology. Currently, Dr. Galati is the Medical Director of the Sherrie and Alan Conover Center for Liver Disease & Transplantation at Houston Methodist Hospital, one of the finest hospitals and research institutes in the United States.

He is the founder of Your Health First Education, a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide education and support to the public, raising awareness about liver disease, obesity, alcohol abuse, nutrition, disease screening, and early intervention. He is the author of Eating Yourself Sick: How to Stop Obesity, Fatty Liver, and Diabetes from Killing You and Your Family.
