In part two, Christy shares why she’s driven to help the next generation of women in business and the life lesson she would tell her 18-year-old self if she had the opportunity.

About Christy Pambianchi:
Christy is executive vice president and chief human resources officer at Verizon, responsible for helping thousands of V Teamers maximize their potential and realize their greatest ambitions. In her role, she focuses on making Verizon an exceptional place to work because it takes more than the best technology to move the world forward, it takes the best people.

Since joining Verizon in July 2019, Christy has reimagined HR practices to keep Verizon at the forefront of the digital transformation. By optimizing talent programs and building a more dynamic leadership capability, Christy and her team have supported the company’s growth in key businesses and markets.

Core to her strategy is to foster an inclusive workplace and infuse greater equity across Verizon’s processes, behaviors and operations. Her advocacy for workplace diversity has led to a number of industry recognitions for Verizon’s commitment to equality and inclusion, including honors from Forbes, Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), Working Mother, Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), Black Enterprise, Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Disability:IN and Military Friendly®.

With the world becoming increasingly digital, Christy is preparing Verizon’s workforce to deliver on the promise of 5G. By supporting a culture of continuous development and learning, all teams, no matter where they sit in the organization, are ready to accelerate Verizon’s business strategies and build the future.

Christy was formerly the Executive Vice President of People & Digital at Corning Incorporated and served in various senior leadership roles during her 20-year tenure. Prior to Corning Incorporated, Christy was a director of human resources at PepsiCo, Incorporated, where she served as a director of human resources.

Corporate and charitable leadership
Christy is a director of the board of the Verizon Foundation and serves as a board member of the National Academy of Human Resources Foundation. She also remains active at Cornell University as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for the School of Industrial and Labor Relations and as a board member for the Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS). Christy provides leadership and support as a board member for the Lumina Foundation, which is dedicated to increasing the percentage of Americans with post-secondary education. She is also a leader in the broader CHRO community through her role as a board member at HR Policy Association and the advisory board for the Center for Executive Succession.

In response to the staggering rise in unemployment triggered by the COVID crisis, Christy joined HR leaders from Accenture, Lincoln Financial Group and ProCore to launch People Work Connect, a coalition to connect companies with workforces laid off or furloughed with those in urgent need of workers.

Leading by example, Christy is tireless in her pursuit of gender equality by creating a more equitable and inclusive workplace for women. As the co-executive sponsor of the Women’s Association of Verizon Employees (WAVE) employee resource group, she is dedicated to eliminating any drivers of inequality and amplifying development opportunities for women to advance as leaders.
