This week on Decarbonizing the World, we're breaking down the collaboration between SunPower and Schneider Electric which involves the building of more than 200 state-of-the-art, all-electric, solar-powered homes. Frank is joined by Matt Brost the VP of Sales for SunPower’s New Homes Division, and Will Shippee the Manager of Strategic Solar Accounts at Schneider Electric. In part one, Will & Matt discuss the rise of the blackouts in California, the role of the community microgrid, and how the whole project came together. About Matt Brost: Matt is Vice President of Sales for SunPower’s New Homes division. Matt has 25 years of experience in the energy sector and 15 years in home building. He currently leads SunPower’s sales channel focused on residential developers and builders. During his 14-year career at SunPower Matt has worked to increase energy efficiency and solar electric adoption by builders and developers. In this time, SunPower has developed partnerships with most of the Top US builders and has completed more than 80,000 new solar homes. About Will Shippee: Will is a solar PV and IoT expert with over 17 years of business development, product development and go-to-market experience. After literally “starting on the roof” installing PV systems in 2005 he has consulted for some of the top names in solar energy while being at the forefront of the emerging “internet-of-Energy”. Today Will is proud to lead strategic solar accounts for Schneider Electric helping to forge the next round of partnerships that will usher in the new energy landscape.
